Fresh Thoughts: A New Perspective on Technology


Technology is a major part of our everyday lives. We are constantly in the presence of technology, whether it be our phones, smartwatches, or laptops. My passion for technology led me to use technology for this project. What you are about to see is various perspectives of an everyday object in the common office: a printer. 


Negative Space



This shot of the printer focuses on the concept of negative space. By using a light colored wall, I was able to show how it contrasts with the printer's black color, as well as the shadow cast by the printer. This shot also employs the rule of thirds, which keeps the shot visually balanced. 


Framing



This shot of the printer focuses on the concept of framing. Once again, I used the rule of thirds to help me set up this shot. By taking the time to line up my shot, I was able to get a nice balance between the printer and the background. 


Cropping




For this, I took the negative space shot, and cropped it down. This eliminated most of the shadow given off by the printer, while also bringing a much closer look at it.


Angles



This is probably my favorite shot that I took. By working the shot, I found an angle that would display the curvature of the printer, as well as complement the background. 

Context Within the Subject Matter




Before I took this shot, I asked myself: "What does a printer need?" The answer, was paper. I added a ream of paper to the shot by placing it on the table below the printer, to get a nice balance of color between blue, black, and tan.

Fresh Thoughts: Advanced Premiere For this blog, we were tasked with speeding up/slowing down certain parts of a video, as well as using keying and overlaying pngs to add animations with the use of keyframes. The video I chose to use was the bottle flip that we filmed in class.  The first thing I did was unlink the video and audio. I did this so I could eliminate specific parts of the audio, while keeping the full video. Next, I used the razor tool to isolate specific clips of peoples faces. With the use of the scale/position effects in the effect controls, I zoomed-in at specific points. For one zoom, I added a sleepy face emoji and faded it in with the opacity option, and added a "Bruh" sound effect and title. I used an opacity to quickly bring in the title. For the actual bottle flip, I started by slowing the clip down to 25% by using the speed/duration option. Blog Post #2: That's What She Said

Fresh Thoughts: That's What She Said For this assignment, I took 2 clips from "The Office", and combined them with the use of the razor tool. The first clip, which is much of my video, is of Jim dressing as Dwight and asking Dwight a series of odd questions relating to bears. The second clip is a compilation of Michael's catchphrase, "That's what she said". In my edited version, I used the razor tool to take out parts of Jim and Dwight's argument, and replaced them with Michael saying "That's what she said". The most challenging part, surprisingly, was finding a way to put all my clips into this blog post. Since my edited version was deemed "too big" by Blogger, I copied the links of all 3 of my clips that are in Google Drive and pasted them here.  If I wanted to, I could post my edited video to YouTube and not be cited for copyright violation, as it is a parody.
